As I write this post on a vibrant 8/8 day, I welcome you to August, (the eighth month of the year) and the abundant power of 8. The August 2014 photo (on the right) of clouds at Tod’s Point in Greenwich depicts the world in all its abundance.
Eight is probably the most controversial number that numerology, Feng Shui and other energy modalities discuss. In a word, 8 is the energy of power and leadership.
The Power of 8
Here is how I see it as a numerologist. Eight, in the glorious never-ending shape of the infinity symbol, is all about potential. It is a lesson of expansion in moving out of your comfort zone, stepping into the world and making a difference.
To be afraid of our power, to humble ourselves-down so we are not seen, is a disservice to the world and all the people you come in contact with. Embracing who you are and sharing it with the world is rising to a very high level of consciousness. It is embracing power with the heart and not the head. Each person you share your vibrance with is benefiting from the mirror they see in you.
The power of 8 is all about success and abundance. Claiming your brilliant potential in every way, is totally empowering yourself and others. This is tapping into your abundance of spirit, abundance of health, abundance of knowledge, abundance of energy, abundance of success and wealth, abundance of community and loving friends.
The Shadow of 8
Claiming the power that is authentically yours is not seeing yourself as greater than others. That is the shadow of the eight. To take your power and abuse it by pushing others down is perhaps a lesson some have come here to learn. (Perhaps in a past life you were a dictator?) This is the journey of thinking through the brain and the ego rather than the heart. The 8 shadow views power, money and success as a journey to compete and feel better than others. Their values are self-serving.
The other side of the shadow is hiding who you are in fear of hurting or competing with others. Demeaning self so others will feel better about their selves is not helping anyone. It is compressing your spirit-given gift of aliveness. Either extreme of the unbalanced 8 can result in headaches, stomachaches and obsessive worrying.
What is the energy of August for you?
The energy of August will help you be out there in the world and get projects accomplished. August exemplifies the powerful and charismatic Leo in Astrology. The power of 8 will give you more energy to connect with people and perhaps help you to step out of your comfort zone. What will you do in August to embrace your abundant life? It might be as simple as going out dancing with complete abandon! How can you empower self and in turn support the important people in your life?
Three examples of successful August birthday well-knowns, who live (lived) their lives with an abundant spirit are: Barack Obama (born August 4, 1961), Michael Jackson (born August 29, 1958), and Mother Teresa (born August 26, 1910). Stay tuned for my August celebrity of the month post.
