Valentine’s Day Astrology and Tarot

Oh where is Cupid’s arrow in these darker days of winter? The arrow (eros) carries the excitement that only love can bring. Winter days disappear into cold too soon, and we are left seeking joy and warmth, to love and be loved. Enter Valentine’s Day, the perfect antidote to the winter dull drums.
Oh the moods, the yin and yang. We are both hot and cold. Lovers and foes. And here Valentine’s Day rushes in every February 14th, in the midst of our winter, with its high demands through media and society of expressions of love, and good old fashioned romantic courtship.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, it is a good time to reflect more deeply at the cosmic energies at this time. Tradition demands its conventional gestures of desire with chocolates and flowers, but these times have been demanding something different from all of us, shocking and sometimes brutal news getting our attention through extreme events all around our world, forcing us out of our collective slumber, to seek Truth.
Valentine’s Day Astrology Perspective
The astrology of late has been extremely pointed at transforming us all through upheaval, chaos, breakdowns and breakthroughs. Truths are cracking through old staid systems like the roots of a tree breaking up a cement sidewalk.…though usually the roots slowly unfurl and the cement moves out if its way naturally over time, this has been ultra fast speed, violent at times, full of rage, questions of justice, and much anguish.
December 2014- March 20, 2015
The last month of 2014, and the first few months of 2015 are still carrying this energy of the Uranus/Pluto square which has been in effect since April 2012. These two powerhouse planets have been wrestling, or better said, warring in conflict for two and a half years, accelerating changes in profound and transformative ways. Tarot Cards For Valentine’s Day
The two cards I pulled are the Three of Cups and the Ace of Swords. I feel these are perfect for our upcoming Valentine’s Day especially in light of our world’s and cosmic occurrences.
Three of Cups – Exuberance, Community, love, abundance, friendship, celebration, uniting with others in a joyful way or to create support like a family, overflowing with good vibes, the joys of dancing with those that you care about. This card can have a feminine feel to it, it depicts three goddesses dancing on the Tarot card, but can be that the feeling in itself, as cups relate to feelings, emotions, relationships, creativity and love; and the three brings it in a trinity, so that it is even more than romantic love between two people, it includes community and society.
Ace of Swords – is about Truth, Justice, using mental force, facing problems, doing what is right, fighting for a cause, cutting through confusion, being honest, singing out what is real, finding strength to overcome. Aces are new energy, new beginnings in a very pure and strong way! And Swords is the suit of communication, thinking, perceptions and perspective, vision, justice, honor and truth.
I see these two cards together as integrating love for one, as a love for community as a whole, and way to communicate more honestly and clearly, with love. This looks to be a beautiful and unique Valentine’s day where you can love and cherish your partner, by being truthful and honest and fair with them, and to celebrate joyfully, in high spirits, together and spread that joy to the community around you.
