Take a step back in time to Monhegan Island in Maine. It is a magical place with no traffic, no noise or crowded supermarkets.
My group of friends took a week to decompress from our busy lives and enjoy time with each other. With no technology or busy work, we only had our senses. Each day we marveled at the clear sky, the turquoise water and the rocks as the ocean beat against them. The beautiful smell of fresh air and salty sea filled our lungs.
Most significant to me was the silence. Few cars are allowed on the island. Mostly you heard the surf, the seagulls and our laughter. And for entertainment — our paint brushes, hiking shoes, deck of cards, and lots of delicious home-cooked meals. Love the lobster and coffee icecream with expresso chips!
